Tough days back then. Joined choir and Buddhist society as ECAs. The ECAs points are important for us international students to secure a hall for next year, or else, you will be seeing there are lots of people will be squatting at the street, and maybe, you will be seeing me too!! lolx, joking. haha. As for the information how do we allocate a hall for next year, here are some details. As an international students, we have 9 points in our hands. But the minimum ECA points that we must allocate is 15. That is only the minimum. Who knows afterthat they will increase till 16 points, then I'm sure that you will be seeing me at the streets of Singapore. Famous huh? hahaha... So where do we have to allocate another 6 more points? From the post of the clubs or societies. Even for sub comms, we have to be interviewed to get the small post, so for a bigger post, ya should have some ideas what they are going to ask about or which type of bullets they are going to use.
The first interview that I went was the sub comm interview for Buddhist Society. Nervous, did not have the idea what they were going to ask. Sis told me they would treat you just like a friend. Lolx. Erin and I were there for the interview. Her first choice was Resource and second was Fellowship. While the first choice of mine was Dharma and second was Event. Eventually it was my turn. I went into the interview room. It was SUPER COLD. I mean, the room was already cold and the adrenaline level at that time was SUPER HIGH. Should the doctor would to examine my blood pressure, I think it would be like maybe 210/120? haha. So, I was being interviewed by 2 guys. Kinda pressure, 2 at once (200% versus 100%)lolx. Of course, they would ask you to introduce yourself first. I just introduced myself accordingly to what I had written in the blog, in the ' about me' column. So, they were like laughing. haha. Being interviewed for about 30 minutes, and finally I was released from the 'jail'. lolx.
So, after the sub comm interview for Buddhist Society that was on Tuesday, Wednesday I would be having the choir main comm interview. I wanted to run for the tenor sectional leader. The interview was at about 9 something in the evening. Reached the room, AND WAS SURPRISED TO SEE 6 INTERVIEWERS!!! The vice president of the choir asked me to sit in front. This was even harder!! ( 600% versus 100%). jia lat liao la!!! (Sorry but have to use a bit of dialect here, so that it won't be boring)lolx. On the spot, they asked me to teach a SENIOR to sing the song. I just teached what I can. After that, the interview started. Asked me about what do you feel about music. Of course, I will bla as much as possible about music, cause I'm experienced in it. lolx. Then after the interview, finally the bullets appeared. And I did not know what the bullet was made of, he told me,' can I be brutally honest with you?' So I did say ok. The big bullet was,' your teaching technique is so not fantastic.' haha. lolx. Nevermind, just let him shoot, and in the end, he told me,' but actually for the first time, your teaching is quite good.' lolx, I do not know what they were talking about. Just forget about it. haha.
Then the final interview was the main comm for Buddhist society which fell on Thursday. Waited from 1900 till 2129pm though there were only a few people, think about 14 or 15 people. It was my turn, again, and I went into the tutorial room. And again, the same interviewers. They did introduce to me and from there I found out that he's the Dharma Propagation Director. Lolx, shocked!! Still, I continued to be interviewed by them. Uhh, reached till the last few questions which were very hard for me to answer as I do not encounter that before. Just tried to give the best answer. Finally, they told me,' if unfortunately you were not choosen into the main comm, will you be staying with us as a sub comm?' I said ,'sure, my faith towards NTUBS and Buddhism will not fade.' Lol, and they even told me, promise me yea. Uhh, based on that, the chance for me to be in the main comm is quite slim. But of course, the results is not out yet, so why should I be worrying about it? Just let it be natural. Follow the natural law. Lolx. Haha. Will let you know when I got the results!!!
HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!!
Signed up for the registration for choir. The audition date was on the 20th and 21st of August.
Decided to go on the 20th. Wanna go for the audition as soon as possible.
I did not know what they would test about. Was it to present a song? Or they would play the piano and we would just follow accordingly. Out of my mind. I brought along my mp3, just in case. Should they want me to present a song, the songs that were in my mind were either Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman, Come back to me by David Cook, Touch my hand by David Archuleta or Bleeding Love by Jesse McCartney. Was quite nervous. Worried that will my voice be out of tune.
Sis and I were waiting at the LT 7. There was a girl. She approached me, asking about the place for choir audition. I told her it was here. Then we started chatting. I asked her did she know anything about the choir audition. She said she did not know anything. The person in charged asked her just go for the audition.
Finally the door opened. When we went in, there was one lecturer there. The girl told the lecturer that we would be having our choir audition here. Then the lecturer told us, ' no, I will be having lectures at 1900 pm.' Huh!!! Then where was the place for the audition? I phoned the person who was in charged for the choir. Then.... bai oo long... The choir audition was in TR 7.. not LT 7. kekeke..
So we went to TR 7. There were quite a lot of people there, especially china people. (just like me, wanna gain points so that they will be able to secure a hall for next year.. We are in the same boat) keke. I applied for the tenor and bass sectional leaders. So, the person asked me to wait before going in for the audition. Finally, it was my turn. A bit nervous. lolx. It came out that we just sing accordingly to what the person was playing. It was kinda easy right? lolx. As expected(not praising myself), I passed the audition and got tenor. Woohoo.. haha..
I know it's a bit late for me to blog about this. But still, I've to blog it. Wakaka.. Happy birthday to you, mama..
Luckily sis did remind me that mama's birthday is on the 20th of august. If not, I would have totally forgotten about it (Oopps...) haha!!
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to mama,
Happy birthday to you!!!
Yesterday for the whole evening I could not get access to the internet. It's was ok in the afternoon and when I came back from my dinner, everything went wrong. It kept on stating that the computer was connected to an unidentified network and it was unsecured. This was the first time I encountered it. I did not know what should I do. Went to the hall office. Forgotten that it would close at 5 pm. Asked around. My friends from hall 2 said that the line was perfectly ok, nothing wrong. Nervously, I asked another friend from my hall. She said she was out for dinner and the line was ok. Seeing all these make me anxious. Feeling so helpless.
I tried to sign in the windows live messenger to check what was wrong with the internet connection. It stated that the defalut gateway was offline. What causes the default gateway to be offline? There are a few possibilities. One is the network admin has blocked the connections to the internet and the other one is the router is busy or switched off. I thought why would the network admin block my access to the internet? So it will not be the possibility why couldn't I get access to the internet. 99% of the answer will be the router is busy or was accidentally being switched off by the hall officer.
Finally, my friend sms me that her friend could not get access to the internet. 'Fuh' was my expression. It means that I'm not the one who was having this problem. But the weird thing is why the others from the same hall as me can get access to the internet while some cannot? Funny...
Anyway, the line is stable now.
Yesterday was the first tutorial of German class. I was kinda late for the tutorial because I was hanging quite a number of clothes(lazy person will be like that) lolx. Reached there around 4:41 pm. The tutorial class was supposed to start at 4:30 pm. Entered the room and the German tutor asked a boy and me(the boy too late for the tutorial) to wait for awhile. Then at first he bla a lot and I did not understand a word from his mouth. After that, the first question he asked us was, ' Alles klar?' then he pointed to the whiteboard ' ja'. I guess he was asking, ' do you understand?' and the answer was 'yes'. Then afterthat he pointed to the word Entshuldigung which means sorry. lolx.
We got to sit down eventually. Guten Tag, Guten Morgen, Guten Abend, Guten Nacht, Gestern, Sonntag.... Wie hieBen Sie.. (the B is not the ' B' in english... it's a double s.) Although it was a tough language, I find it interesting. Different questions have different answers although the meaning is the same, such as ' Wie hieBen Sie? Ich hieBen Mel Veen Boo' and 'Wie ist Ihr Name, bitte? Mein Name ist Mel Veen Boo.' The meaning of the two questions above have the same meaning, which means, what is your name? My name is Mel Veen Boo.
The pronunciation of the alphabet is very different from English, for example, g is pronounced as ghee, y is pronounced as upsilon, j is pronounced as yadut. The vowels in German are a, o and u. Sometimes you may see there's a double line on top of the alphabet, and the lines are on these three vowels. It is known as umlaut. lolx. Sounds funny right? haha.
Ok, that's all for today. Auf Wiedersehen!
It's my first day of lecture of BS 101(Introductory of biology). My seniors were saying that if ya listened and study the lecturer's notes, then it will be an easy A for you. At first, I do not really believe it. But now, I think i do believe.
Entered the lecture theater and sat with my friends. After a few minutes, the lecturer came in. Ok, so class starts now. And the first slide he showed us was..... 子曰:。。。。huh?? Confucious saying is also in the slide of introductory of biology?? What a lol to me. Then nevermind, afterthat, astronomy is in too. Sun is a star... There are 8 planets in our solar system. Pluto is considered a drawf planet....... I thought i entered into the astronomy class. lolx. Doesn't make any sense at all. haha. He did say that this will be tested in our exam. LOL?? Is this biology?? Whatever. haha.
After that, I thought that I have the lab session. But I heard my friend saying ' no lab.. next week only have labs'. I was wondering, it's week 2 right? we should have labs. He asked me to go into our school website and find the time table. In the end, I'm in the losing end. (lol, not so serious). Fine, this means that I can go do the student pass thingy. Went to student service centre with erin. We were so stupid cause the centre is right in front of us and we went one big round. lolx. BLUR... We went into the building and were finding where to do the student pass. And again we did not see the big word there 'STUDENT PASS DOWN'. Really went blur. haha.
It's such a long day, and finally we got our student pass ready. Will collect it on the 27th of august. huh.. After this will have my German class, will get some rest first. ciao!!!
It has been six days and still I did not update my blog. Sorry guys, have no time to blog. But it's ok, now I'm blogging and I'm gonna tell you what had happened for the last few days.
I did tell ya that I attended for the BS 103 ( organic chemistry) right? So, afterthat, one of the senior asked us to go to the BS school. I wonder what was going to happen. Still I followed that one big group. (Follow the crowd) lolx.
Soon, we reached the BS school and we entered into the lecture theater. There, the president of the BS club was waiting for us. He just wanted to brief on how many AUs we all could take, the INSTEP thingy(students exchange programme), then about the BS club, and one last thing was the add and drop courses. As I had only 16 AUs, I need to add another one more course to make it to 19 AUs.(16 AUs is too little) The add or drop course started at 7 in the evening. So, actually I did have a course in my mind, and it would be Spanish language. I aimed for it. At the ' course vacancies', I saw it had 7 vacancies left and till 7 in the evening approximately, I clicked on the ' add course into the STARS'. It came out,' no vacancies left'. LOL???!!! WHAT?? SO FAST!!! Nevertheless, I still had other languages in my mind, and it was german. Still, it had no vacancies at all. I was like sitting speechlessly there. lolx. The others told me that some one will sure drop off the course. I waited. Day after day, still no vacancies. I thought of taking the languages in my next semester. I did not care about it anymore. (In actual life, I'm still very anxious about it. lolx)
Till Saturday, I woke up early(about 9 something) cause 10 am was the time to add the course. Eventually, I waited till 10 am and aimed for the German course. Still, nothing came out. Xuan le ba... I went for a bath and when I came back, suddenly, MIRACLE HAPPENED!! Somebody dropped off the course, and it showed '1' vacancy. Hastily and happily, I clicked on the 'add course', and finally, I did add the course. Uhh... See.. Time is so precious for me, that I can't even blog. lolx.
Ooooo... Sunday approched. I was supposed to be at the food fair to help around and to.... SING. hehe. However, I can't. Feeling kinda sad. haha. It would be fun to be at the food fair as I called some of my friends to go for the food fair. So how was it?? Did you try out the mee rebus? It's supposed to be VERY VERY VERY (x infinite) NICE!! And for the chai kuih too.. It would be a waste if ya din try out the food. The purpose of the food fair is to raise fund to build a new centre near Changkat Jering. The centre consists of old folks home, clinic, place to meditate, etc. The centre is quite big and will be built in 2 years time. Waiting for it. lolx.
Ok, tomorrow will be my first class of German language. Hope I can master it well. Yay!!!
Today was my first lecture and I don't even know where the lecture theatre 20 is located. Luckily I messaged my coursemate yesterday and she said she knows the place. Ok. Let's get started.
Woke up quite late ( 0730). I thought that I had set the hp alarm. Yes, indeed I had set the alarm but I did not enable it. lolx. So, everything was done in a rush and went to the bus stop at around 0750. I was supposed to meet her at Canteen A at arouond 0800. Canteen A is located far away from my hall. If I would to take the shuttle bus, then it would be easier as I do not have to walk a lot. But sometimes, things do not go accordingly to your will. The shuttle bus took a long time to come to my hall and I looked at my watch, Gosh, it's 0807. She phoned me eventually, telling me that she's in canteen A. I told her I was waiting for the shuttle bus. Still, the shuttle bus did not come. I decided to walk to canteen A.
WALK?? huh.. next time I would have to wake up early so that I do not need to walk a lot. To me, the journey from my hall to Canteen A was like from taiping to KL. Need to walk up the hill, up and down the staircase, straight road as it was like a neverending journey. Finally I reached canteen A and together with some other coursemates, we now head for LT 20. At first I thought my coursemate knew where is LT 20. At last, all in a mess. She phoned the senior where's LT 20. ' Level 2??' then we pressed level 2. ' No no.. level 4' Again, we pressed level 4. ' Near 7 11?? Business library there??'' Go up and come down and at last, it was our initial level. What a joke!!
Luckily, we were still on time for the lecture. Today was organic chemistry. It was like form 6 chemistry... sigma bond ( I kept hearing the lecturer saying six six six), energy level, spdf orbitals, valence bond theory... Just have to revise the form 6 chemistry and it should be sufficient. The lecture lasted for 2 hours and I was about to fall asleep as I have the basic knowledge to organic chem in form 6 (luckily I did not fall asleep) and it ended. Finally, I can go back to my own room to have a rest(rest is a nicer word to use than sleep). haha!!
Came back on friday morning. VERY VERY VERY EXHAUSTED!!! Having fever and I thought i'm gonna have the sensitive 'H' word.. haha!! All started from the orientation. Bathed late, wake up early, plus not enough water. Body being dehydrated and at last, this was how I look.... SLEEPING ON THE BED once I reached home. zzzzzzzzzzzzz.........
Still feeling dizzy when I woke up, kept on drinking lots of water ( maybe tons? haha) and took some paracetamol. Soon, I got much better than before, but still a little weak. So, friday was the day that I could describe it as a sleeping day!!! haha!!
Saturday was Guan Yin Dan's eve. We, including my parents were very excited about it. At about 1930, we went to the temple to have our dinner. And at 2130, the bell started to ring and ask us to be in the temple to pray. Usually the prayer will last for 1 hour, so was for this too. After the prayer, it's time for them to 'receive' the Gods. Very very packed with people
. BUT NOT AS PACKED AS TOMORROW....
Finally, the day had come. Woke up early at bout 0710. 0800 was our prayer. We hastily went to the temple for our breakfast. Ate some kuihs and some fried kuey teow. The bell rang again, and it was time for our prayer. After our prayer, we went through a small bridge (can be fixed) to make ourselves luckier. Was quite tired and slept on a chair. 1100 am was another prayer for us again. Prayed and this time with the addition of 3 times of da bei zhou, 3 times of xin jing and 9 times of wang sheng zhou for the animal liberation. It was nice to see the birds finally had the freedom to fly around, the fish had the freedom to swim and etc. After that, we went back home to have some rest first.
At night, still we have to pray at 2000. After our prayers, my mom and I went back home while my sis and my dad were there to witness how the people sent the Gods back. My sis had recorded it and brought back to let us watch. It was kinda fun and interesting. They sang ' Happy Birthday' song to guan yin. Duh... I missed that part out. haha!! It's ok, there will be many chances for me to sing as she has 3 times in a year. hehe.
Happy birthday to you, Godmother!!
Sorry for not updating my blog. Time seems to be very limited for me to blog because of the orientation that I'm having it now.
FOC (Freshman Orientation Camp) is the orientation held by the malaysian. Purpose? Makes you feel at ease. We are family.. Sort of that kind of thing. Everyday have to wake up very early in the morning (like school days-0630 am, cause I had been sleeping till noon during the holidays... lolx.) So, after waking up by your own, as usual, prepare breakfast by your own, tidy the bed up by your own... (Everything by your own.. lolx.) then our seniors will gather us (us in this context means the other students from other states and me together) in our own hall. Then, we will have our breakfast together.
Ice-breaking session is fun. Met a lot of new friends, but of course not as close as the friends whom I have before I left for singapore. Still, the process has to start all over and over again. Introducing oneself, which course, which hall, came from where... =.= bla bla bla... After that, we will play games with the other group of students. Play till 1130 pm. Gosh.. It's a whole day. I really admire some of the students here. They are still so energetic even though it's near midnight. Uhh..
The orientation camp will last for 7 days, which means this is the third day. But I will b going back on thursday night (tomorrow), so have to speed up my ice breaking session with the other students.
Ok, that's all.. I'm going to have a rest now!
The title above means 'I Love You'. Some words for my parents and some of my close friends before I leave for Singapore.
TO
My parents: I may have some quirks and I bet everyone has it too. Sometimes I may be understandable, and sometimes I may not be. I do not really show out my emotions. So sometimes when you all asked to pack my things or whatsoever, I will just put on my ' lackadaisical face' and ' my favourite quote, that will be the ' wait for awhile' will be out from my mouth. It seems that I have a lackadaisical attitude, but the facial expression is not the true expression. The real expression I will not show it on my face, but in my heart. So it's quite hard to understand me, but I will change the habit so that you all can understand well. :-) LOVE YA!! MUAKSS.. I will always take care of myself, so do not worry about me.
Suah Kean (if you were to read it, if not, it does not matter): I don't really know what to tell you anymore. haha! I think I've told you everything that is necessary. Yeah, just take care and study well!
Yi Phing: In Lower 6, you looked at me and I looked at you. You look like you are kinda fierce, and vice versa too. Haha! So in upper 6 we were quite close and were quite crazy that time. Those were the days I can say it. So, this long term holiday makes us even closer and I found that we both are the same kind of person. Love emo songs, love oldies... etc. Anyway, I will be waiting for you to become a doctor ya.. Doctor Lim!! haha!!
Ee Xian: Oh, my junior!! haha! Just pulling your legs.. STPM is around the corner, so be sure not to be lazy ya! I wish that your dreams will come through, as long as you can get good results!! I believe you can do it, cause...... YOU ARE MY JUNIOR!! lol..
Shee Leng: Classmates since young.. haha.. being reunited at Monica's tuition class.. lol.. You are such a nice friend. Just do not always think about working ya, study is important too. You are good at doing charity, keep up the good job!! Thumbs up for this statement!!
Few words before I leave:
I promise you,
I'm always there.
When your heart is full of sorrow and despair,
And I'll carry you,
When you need a friend,
you'll find my footprints in the sand...
P/S : Should I leave your(my friends) name out, I'm so sorry. Friends Forever!! Cheers!!
